Savings Bond University (Off-site Link)

This online training tool is useful for all financial institution employees who handle savings bond transactions. Students learn how to handle a wide variety of savings bond transactions, identify key areas on savings bonds, determine the value of a savings bond and become familiar with online and paper-based resources.

Guide to Cashing Savings Bonds (Off-site Link)

This reference guide for financial institutions cashing savings bonds describes procedures for verifying and documenting the identity of a customer redeeming U.S. Savings Bonds and lists acceptable forms of identification.

This publication is a reference guide for employees of financial institutions who handle savings bond transactions or answer related questions. This guide covers questions and provides instructions for handling most bond transactions. In addition, a quick reference guide and a sample outline for in-house training are provided as appendices.
