The Clearing Balance Calculator can be used to determine the contractual clearing balance level required to generate desired earnings credits or the earnings credits generated based on your clearing balance level. To use this calculator, you will need to reference your most recent Summary Statement of Service Charges. Results

Based upon your calculation request (Clearing Balance or Earnings Credits), and the information you entered, the result will be either:

  1. The estimated contractual clearing balances required to generate earnings credits equal to the level of earnings credits desired or the charges eligible for earnings credits located on the Billing Summary (result located in the Contractual Clearing Balance Level field), or
  2. The earnings credits the depository institution would generate given the rate, clearing balance level, and marginal reserve requirement information entered (results located in Charges Eligible for Earnings Credit fields).

If you would like to change your contractual clearing balance level once you have completed the calculator, please complete the Clearing Balance Request form and fax or mail your request to your local Reserve Bank.

The request form can be found at www.frbservices.org/forms/account_services.html, and via links on ReserveCalc and www.reportingandreserves.org (Off-site Link).

For additional information about clearing balances and earnings credits, please refer to Sections III and VIII of the Reserve Maintenance Manual (PDF).
