Federal Reserve Seeks Experts for FedNowSM Service Bill Pay Roundtable Events

The Federal Reserve hosted two roundtable sessions for small, medium and large financial institutions to discuss the current state of bill pay and its impact on the ongoing development of an instant payments roadmap. These roundtables are part of the FedNow Community bill pay series, and will serve as a follow up to the recent bill pay webinar.

Participants will have an opportunity to collaborate with the Federal Reserve and provide valuable perspectives on bill pay, such as challenges of consumer-to-business bill payments and barriers to instant payments adoption.

Submissions for joining the roundtable sessions are currently closed.

Session 1: Current State – Gaps, Issues and Challenges for Adoption

  • Description: This interactive session will encourage participants to discuss their current ecosystem for facilitating bill payments, including addressing barriers to offering instant payment options for both consumers and billers.
  • Date/Time: Thursday, October 15, at 2-4 p.m. ET

Session 2: Target Use Cases for Business Payments and Roadmap Priorities

  • Description: In the second session, we invite roundtable participants to continue the discussion on bill pay, specifically identifying how instant payments might resolve current issues for bill pay participants.
  • Date/Time: Wednesday, October 21, at 2-4 p.m. ET

We invite you to submit this expression of interest by October 12, if you have the desired interest, expertise and capacity to participate in one of the Fed-led roundtable sessions. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at SYSFedNowWorkGroup@chi.frb.org.
