Bureau of the Fiscal Service Seeks Financial Agent Proposals to Support the Direct Express Program

The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service), is soliciting applications from financial institutions interested in operating the Direct Express Program as a financial agent of Fiscal Service.
Direct Express is the largest government prepaid debit card program for federal benefit recipients – serving 3.8 million otherwise unbanked or financially underserved cardholders (approximately 3.4 million active users). The financial agent will administer the Direct Express prepaid debit card program while also identifying opportunities to further advance electronic payments to ensure the long-term sustainability, resiliency, and customer experience of the program.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. ET on February 12, 2024. Full details regarding the application process are available at the Fiscal Service (Off-site) website.
