FedCash® Services: New Series of Federal Notes in production
A new series of Federal Reserve notes is currently in production. The new series will contain the signatures of U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and U.S. Treasurer Chief Marilynn Malerba.
In order to operate efficiently and reduce cost, Federal Reserve Banks fill orders for currency with fit currency first and then with newly printed currency and require the recirculation of fit currency by depository institutions.
The timing of availability to the general public of banknotes from this new series will vary based on local inventories and regional currency circulation patterns. All designs of U.S. currency remain legal tender, or legally valid for payments, regardless of when they were issued.
The Financial Services logo and “FedCash” are registered service marks of the Federal Reserve Banks. A list of marks related to financial services products that are offered to financial institutions by the Federal Reserve Banks is available at FRBservices.org.
