Conference Connection: See the Fed at Nacha Smarter Faster Payments 2024

Representatives from across Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) will be in Miami this May for the annual Nacha Smarter Faster Payments conference (Off-site), one of the largest industry conferences for engaging and networking with payments professionals.

This year’s in-person conference takes place May 6-9 and the virtual Remote Connect 2024 (Off-site) is June 10-12. During the May event, Fed speakers will present on a variety of topics, including instant payments adoption and the FedNow® Service, fraud mitigation and addressing scams with information sharing, interbank connectivity through ISO® 20022 standards, the current state of the ACH network and more.

Join the Federal Reserve Town Hall

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Federal Reserve Town Hall (Off-site) on Tuesday, May 7 at 10:25 a.m. ET.

Nell Campbell-Drake, vice president of strategic industry engagement for FRFS, will moderate a panel providing updates on the Fed’s strategic initiatives and how the payment system continues to transform. Panelists include Shonda Clay, chief of product and relationship management for FRFS, Susan Foley, deputy director of reserve bank operations and payment systems from the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors, Nick Stanescu, chief business executive for the FedNow Service, and Cheryl Venable, chief of payments operations for FRFS. You don’t want to miss this roundtable.

Engage at our Exhibit Hall Booth

Attendees are encouraged to stop by the FRFS booth #500 in the exhibit hall for opportunities to connect on timely and innovative payments topics. During the exhibit hall hours, we’ll be featuring demonstrations of the FedNow Service, where attendees will have the opportunity to see the transaction flow and discuss features and functionalities. There also will be an interactive use case kiosk that will allow attendees to explore instant payment use cases, including new verticals added this year.

As a follow up to the Federal Reserve Town Hall, attendees are invited to the FRFS booth on Tuesday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET to continue the conversation during a “Fed Town Hall Encore” event, featuring a panel of Fed experts with open Q&A from conference attendees.

Later in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 7 at 3:15 p.m. ET, see our “Innovator Spotlight” to hear from a small panel of FedNow Service early adopters, including Modern Treasury and Jack Henry, on the use cases they’re enabling and key lessons learned since adoption.

Hear from Fed Speakers

At Nacha, the Fed will host two “Topical Talks” sessions.

  • Introducing FedDetect Anomaly Notification (Off-site), Tuesday, May 7: 4:20 p.m. - 5:10 p.m. ET: Hear from Della Tate, program director for FRFS, on the benefits of the recently launched FedDetect Anomaly Notification for FedACH® that is already providing hundreds of enrolled financial institutions with another layer of fraud detection and alerting tools.
  • Competing in the Use Case Race with Instant Payments (Off-site), Wednesday, May 8: 9:05 a.m. - 9:55 a.m. ET: As the FedNow Service surges ahead, so do the possibilities for instant payments. Join Bernadette Ksepka, vice president and deputy head of product management for the FedNow Service, to learn more about the use cases early adopters are exploring, including earned wage access, real estate transactions, digital wallet defunding and more.

Fed speakers also will present and be featured on various panels to discuss solving ACH exception problems, the importance of an inclusive culture to achieving diversity, artificial intelligence in payments, business-to-business (B2B) payments innovation, operational resiliency and much more.
