Effective September 12, 2022, FedACH® Services will provide an additional ACH file delivery to all customers at 11:30 p.m. ET every Monday through Friday. The new distribution will include any ACH transactions received and processed after the prior transmission deadline and before the new transmission deadline of 10:45 p.m. ET. The later delivery is in response to ACH industry participant requests and will accelerate the delivery of ACH transactions to receiving depository financial institutions (RDFIs) throughout the business week.
RDFIs that choose to process these files when received will be able to better reflect customer account balances. However, RDFIs will not be obligated to immediately process the files received at the 11:30 p.m. ET distribution, and settlement for these items will not occur until 8:30 a.m. ET on a future business day as indicated on the FedACH Processing Schedule. RDFIs are not required to do anything new and can continue to process the files the next morning prior to 8:30 a.m. ET settlement.
With no settlement accompanying the new file distribution, no additional advices will be delivered. In addition, no other ACH processing schedule adjustments accompany this change. The File ID Modifier for the new distribution will be the next available alphanumeric character, consistent with how File ID Modifiers are currently assigned.
The additional ACH file delivery is not expected to significantly impact FedACH customers. However, FedACH customers that wish to test the new processing window can do so through Friday, August 26, 2022. The test request form is available on the FedACH Services Testing Opportunities page.
If you have questions about the new ACH file delivery implementation or testing, please contact FedACH and Check Services Customer Support.
