FedLine Web® Hardware and Software Requirements

Personal computers (PCs) used to access Federal Reserve Bank Services via the FedLine Web Solution must comply with the minimum hardware and software requirements outlined below.

  1. Microsoft® Windows® 10 is strongly recommended. Support is also provided for Windows 8.1.
  2. Microsoft Edge® and Google ChromeTM are supported for accessing FedLine Web. Other browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer®, Mozilla® Firefox®, Safari, Opera) are not supported for use with FedLine Web.
    Notes:
    • Effective October 31, 2021, the Federal Reserve Banks no longer support Internet Explorer 11 for use with the FedLine Web Solution.
    • Only versions of Microsoft Edge powered by the Chromium engine are supported. Microsoft Edge Legacy is not supported.
    • Subscribers who are issued FedLine® security tokens must have the latest version of the Federal Reserve Bank-supplied FedLine security token client software installed. More information on FedLine security tokens can be found in our FedLine Security Token FAQs.
  3. Any PC used to access a FedLine Solution must meet the hardware requirements established by Microsoft for the selected operating system. Please note that the Federal Reserve Banks do not provide support for thin-client environments.
    Other hardware requirements include:
    • USB 2.0 compliant port
    • Ethernet network adapter
    • Microsoft Windows-compatible printer
  4. The following software is required for FedLine Web Subscribers:
    • Adobe® Acrobat® or Adobe Reader® 10.0 or higher
    • Anti-virus software
    • Personal firewall software
    • For Subscribers who are issued FedLine security tokens, Federal Reserve Bank-supplied USB token hardware and token client software
  5. The following network access is required for FedLine Web Subscribers:
    Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP) communications protocol utilizing port 80 (World Wide Web HTTP) and port 443 (HTTP protocol over Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer). The Federal Reserve Banks cannot provide any setup or configuration assistance to troubleshoot network access issues when using non-Federal Reserve Bank designated or provided equipment. This includes firewall and router configuration problems.
  6. The following certificate must be present in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store to support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) communications:
    • Entrust Root Certification Authority-G2, Expiration Year 2030
    This certification authority certificate is shipped with Windows. If this certificate is not present in your Trusted Root Certification Authorities store, you can download it at https://www.entrust.com/resources/certificate-solutions/tools/root-certificate-downloads (Off-site).
  7. Check 21 Subscribers using Axway Secure Client must ensure that they have a supported version of Secure Client.
    Your organization can purchase Secure Client software directly from Axway utilizing the on-line portal (Off-site) that has been established for Federal Reserve Bank customers. For the specific hardware/software requirements related to this client, contact Axway.
