Treasury Check Reclamation
Treasury Check Reclamation is a recovery procedure used by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, to obtain a refund (reclamation) from a presenting financial institution for paid federal government checks.
Notices of Direct Debit (U.S. Treasury Check Reclamation) are generated by the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. See Gold Book: The Check Reclamation Guide (Off-site) for instructions.
Check Reclamation Delivery via the Exception Resolution Service
The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service) delivers reclamation notices and reports via the Exception Resolution Service (ERS). A single reclamation notice will be attached to the case as a PDF file with the requestor reference number from the ERS case matching the reclamation ticket number. Financial institutions may search for the notice of reclamation by entering the reclamation ticket number in the requestor reference field within the ERS inbox or archive. Additional information about the service and reclamation case types is in the Exception Resolution Service Quick Reference Guide (QRG).
