Federal Reserve Financial Services introduces APIs to boost efficiency and enhance customer experience

October 08, 2025

CHICAGO — Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) today announced the launch of FedLine® Developer, a secure platform providing complete and seamless access to a portfolio of FRFS application programming interfaces (APIs) and related resources. These digital entry points are designed to offer customers expedited access to their financial data, including data on ACH transactions, account balances and advance notice of check returns.

The creation of FedLine Developer was driven by customer feedback highlighting the critical role of APIs in modern financial operations. By automating manual processes, APIs can increase efficiency, reduce errors and enhance the overall customer experience for financial institutions.

“We are excited to deliver on our customers’ requests for APIs,” said Amy Burr, senior vice president and head of product for Federal Reserve Financial Services. “APIs provide new opportunities for efficiency by automating data exchange between the Federal Reserve and our customers’ systems. This, in turn, allows financial institutions to streamline their business operations and gain a platform for innovating new or enhanced products and services for their customers.” FRFS APIs offer financial institution customers the flexibility to tailor their experience by receiving specific information when needed. They also provide institutions with real-time access to critical financial data, facilitating faster decision-making based on account activity and reconciliation.

FedLine Developer is initially launching with seven APIs spanning the areas of account management, information services, risk mitigation and service management. FRFS plans to introduce additional APIs in the coming months.
