High-speed onboarding: Credit union goes live on FedNow® Service in record time
06/03/2026
When AdventHealth Credit Union (Off-site) joined the FedNow Service network in late 2025, it completed onboarding and went live in a record-setting five days.
Onboarding to the FedNow Service is designed to be fast, seamless and personalized to fit financial institutions’ needs. New adopters work with a dedicated onboarding manager via a digital tool to minimize delays and get deposits flowing as soon as possible.
For the Florida-based credit union, which has supported AdventHealth employees in their financial endeavors since 1955, efficient onboarding led to steady growth in instant payment volume. We spoke with Veronica Gurmendi, vice president of finance, to learn more about her onboarding experience and what’s next for the FedNow Service at AdventHealth.
Q: Tell us what your FedNow Service onboarding experience was like. How did it shape your first months receiving instant payments?
A: “We were shocked at how quickly we onboarded — we expected the process to take weeks, not days. Because we already have a master account with the Federal Reserve, everything clicked into place easily. The ability to leverage that existing relationship is one of the factors that attracted us to the FedNow Service in the first place.
“From start to finish, the process was seamless. We faced zero issues or delays — we signed the forms on November 19 and went live on November 24. That level of efficiency for a new payment rail is honestly unheard of!”
Q: You mentioned that ease of integration was a factor in your decision to adopt the FedNow Service. What else influenced your decision?
A: “Many of our members operate in fast-paced environments beyond traditional banking hours — they’re doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and their families. Having the ability to provide immediate access to funds through instant payments was increasingly important to us.
“We adopted the FedNow Service because of the trust and security we associate with the Federal Reserve. Knowing the service operates on Federal Reserve infrastructure gave us confidence that our members' funds would be handled securely and reliably. From our first meeting with our onboarding manager to our steady increase in volume, we’ve had a 100% positive experience. We’re already thinking about how to expand our instant payment capabilities.”
Q: How have your members embraced the FedNow Service? What’s next for AdventHealth and instant payments?
A: “Instant payments have really outpaced our expectations. In December 2025 we received $45,000 via the FedNow Service, and by March 2026 that number had more than doubled. This is a payment option our members need, so they’re using it —with minimal intervention from our team.
“Starting as a receiver helped us get comfortable with instant payments. Now we are looking to the future and would like to jump on potential send opportunities — such as auto loan disbursements. The FedNow Service has been a huge success. As soon as send capabilities are enabled by our core provider, we’ll be first in line.”
