Account Reporting Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
- Which reports are mandatory or optional to receive?
Customers that access the Fedwire® Funds Service via the FedLine Direct® Solution are only required to be able to receive the Endpoint Totals Report and the Endpoint Gap Report as follows:
- The Endpoint Totals Report is sent by the Fedwire Funds Service on a nightly basis for each endpoint with activity during the funds-transfer business day.
- The Endpoint Gap Report is sent in the event of a contingency situation to inform each FedLine Direct endpoint owner about its Fedwire Funds Service message traffic on the day of the contingency event, regardless of whether there are any gaps in message sequence numbers for that endpoint.
All other reports are optional for customers to receive (i.e., Account Balance Report, Activity Report, and Endpoint Details Report).
- How do we opt out of receiving optional reports?
Contact your Federal Reserve Bank Services Support Center – Fedwire Services Contacts who can assist you with this request. Please indicate which optional Fedwire Funds Service reports (i.e., Account Balance Report or Activity Report) you want to opt out of. Please note: The Endpoint Details Report is also an optional report, but it can only be requested, so if you don’t need this report, simply do not request it.
- Are these reports requestable for the current funds-transfer business day only or can you request them for past business days?
You can only request reports for the current funds-transfer business day.
- Can we request reports after the Fedwire Funds Service closes for the day until around 7:15 p.m. ET?
Yes, you can request reports after the Fedwire Funds Service closes until around 7:15 p.m. ET.
- How will the Fedwire Funds Service reject a camt.060?
The Fedwire Funds Service will send an admi.002 message to reject a camt.060 request.
- What is the maximum size of a camt.052 message?
Each camt.052 report sent by the Fedwire Funds Service will be delivered as one MQ message, which should not exceed four megabytes. The Activity Report is the only report that could be sent in multiple camt.052 messages.
- Why is the EndToEndID missing in camt.052 messages?
Each camt.052 message only contains information about direct Fedwire Funds Service customers, so the EndToEndID is not needed in these reports. The EndToEndID reference is assigned by the Debtor to help the Creditor reconcile the payment.
Account Balance Report
- What is the difference between the Master and Self Account Balance Report?
A Self Account Balance Report includes the activity for a single individual routing number, whereas a Master Account Balance Report includes the aggregate balance for all subaccounts rolled up to the single master account.
- Does the Account Balance Report include an entry for the FedNow® Service?
Yes, the Account Balance Report includes a Transaction Summary for the FedNow Service, but if you are not participating in the FedNow Service, then the Transaction Summary for the FedNow Service will contain zeros.
- Can anyone solicit Account Balance Reports?
No. Your routing number must be set up within the Fedwire Funds Service to request Account Balance Reports. If the inquiry routing number in the camt.060 message is allowed to see a certain report, then the Fedwire Funds Service will deliver it; otherwise, you will receive an admi.002 reject notification.
- Where is the Account Balance Reports delivered for customers that access the Fedwire Funds Service via the FedLine Direct Solution?
All Account Balance Reports are delivered to your acknowledgement queue.
- When would we receive the Account Balance Report with Report Identification “PRDC” vs “ABMS”?
You will only receive “PRDC” intraday if you have subscribed to the Periodic Account Balance Report, which is only available as a “self” account balance report. You will receive “ABMS” intraday if you request the Account Balance Report, which is available as both a Master and Self Account Balance Report.
- In the Account Balance Report, how many occurrences do we need to accommodate for Balances and Total Entries Per Bank Transaction Code?
You need to accommodate up to four occurrences for the Balance component (i.e., opening balance, daylight overdraft balance, available balance and account balance). Each occurrence of the Balance component will contain multiple pieces of information. The number of occurrences will depend on the account setup and type of balance being requested (i.e., Master will have four occurrences and Self will have two or three occurrences).
You need to accommodate up to eight occurrences for Total Entries Per Transaction Code. The number of occurrences will depend on the account setup and type of balance being requested (i.e., Master will have eight occurrences and Self will have seven occurrences). The transaction codes are as follows:
- FDWF — Fedwire Funds Transfers
- NSSE — National Settlement Service Entries
- FDWS — Fedwire Securities Transfers
- FDAP — Prefunded ACH Credit Items
- FDNF — FedNow Funds Transfers
- AVOT — Available All Other Activity
- UVOT — Unavailable All Other Activity
- MEMO — Memo Post Entries (Only for Master)
Endpoint Totals Report
- Does everyone receive the Endpoint Totals Report at the end of the day?
All customers that access the Fedwire Funds Service via the FedLine Direct Solution and sent and/or received messages during the funds-transfer business day receive an unsolicited Endpoint Totals Report at the end of the day for each of your endpoints. However, if you didn't have any activity for an endpoint, then you won't receive the Endpoint Totals Report.
- Does the Endpoint Totals Report include system messages?
No. The Endpoint Totals Report only includes end-to-end value and nonvalue messages and does not include system messages sent to or received from the Fedwire Funds Service application.
- What is the Account Owner component in the camt.060 message for the Endpoint Totals Report used for?
There are two required elements in the Account Owner component.
- The Agent element specifies the requestor of the account report message.
- The Other element indicates the endpoint of the Fedwire Funds participant to whom the report will be delivered.
Endpoint Details Report
- What is the Endpoint Details Report used for?
You can use the Endpoint Details Report during the day to reconcile up to 100 individual transactions you sent or received at the time of your request.
- How many messages can we request at a time for the Endpoint Details Report?
With the ISO 20022 implementation that occurred on July 14, 2025, we increased the number of messages that you can request in a single Endpoint Details Report from 50 to up to 100 messages. If you need transaction details for more than 100 messages you need to submit multiple requests (e.g., one request with sequence numbers: 1-100, then 101-200, then 201-300).
- What happens if we ask for more than 100 messages in the Endpoint Details Report request?
The Fedwire Funds Service will reject the camt.060 request with an admi.002 message.
- Why does the Transaction Summary in the Endpoint Details Report not have a Bank Transaction Code for value messages?
Value messages are included in the Transaction Summary in the Total Credit Entries and Total Debit Entries data elements, so they don’t have a Bank Transaction Code.
Endpoint Gap Report
- How will we test the process of receiving the Endpoint Gap Report?
We intend to test the Endpoint Gap Report as part of the Contingency Testing on September 20, 2025.
- During a contingency event, will we receive two Endpoint Gap Reports — one for sent messages (IMADs) and one for received messages (OMADs)?
Yes. During a contingency event in which the Fedwire Funds Service sends Endpoint Gap Reports, we will send two gap reports for each participant’s endpoint.
Activity Report
- Is the Fedwire Funds Service Subsidiary Statement the same thing as the Activity Report?
Yes, they are the same. We just renamed the report.
- Could you explain how pagination works in the Activity Report?
For the Activity Report delivered end-of-day to FedLine Direct customers who have subscribed to this report, customers may receive more than one MQ message depending on the total number of transactions (e.g., approximately 2,000 value and nonvalue messages) processed on a funds-transfer business day. High-volume customers that receive multiple camt.052 messages for the Activity Report should check the “Page Number” and “Last Page Indicator” elements in the Group Header to ensure all transactions are received for the funds-transfer business day. For example, if the Fedwire Funds Service sends you two camt.052 messages for the Activity Report, one message will contain Page Number “1” with Last Page Indicator “False” and the other message will contain Page Number “2” with Last Page Indicator “True.”
- What is the maximum message size for the Activity Report?
The maximum size of the camt.052 message for the Activity Report is four megabytes, which represents approximately 2,000 transactions. Customers with a high volume of transactions (i.e., more than about 2,000 transactions) need to be prepared to receive multiple camt.052 messages for the Activity Report.
In lieu of receiving the Activity Report, customers can subscribe to the Financial Institution Reconcile Data (FIRD), a machine-readable reconcilement data file, which contains the same Fedwire Funds Service information as the Activity Report except for the Instruction Identification (this will be blank in the FIRD file). The FIRD file also contains information about all of the transactions you send/receive across all Federal Reserve Financial Services. For additional information about the FIRD file, refer to the Account Management Guide or Contact Us to learn about subscribing to this service.
- Did anything change with the FIRD and SASF file formats due to the ISO 20022 implementation in July 2025?
Effective July 14, 2025, the following changes have been made to the FIRD and SASF files, which affect customers who subscribe to Fedwire details:
- The Reference Number fields will be blank and replaced with spaces. Customers can use the Input Message Accountability Data (IMAD) as the reference number for reconciliation.
- The Type Subtype field includes the ISO 20022 local instrument code, which is comprised of four alpha characters. See examples of the FIRD File Type Subtype Field below:
Examples of the FIRD File Type Subtype Field Fedwire Funds Service Message Type FIRD File Type Subtype Field Today (4 numeric) ISO 20022 (4 alpha) Customer Transfer 1000 CTRC Bank Transfer 1600 BTRC - What is the difference between the Activity Report and the Financial Institution Reconcile Data (FIRD) file?
The Activity Report only includes information about your Fedwire Funds Service messages, while the FIRD file includes information about all of your transactions across all of the Federal Reserve Financial Services, including the Fedwire Funds Service.
- We use the FIRD (Financial Institution Reconcilement Data) file today. Do we have to sign up to receive the Activity Report?
No, you don’t have to receive the Activity Report. In fact, if you have a high volume of transactions then we recommend that you sign up for the FIRD file. You can work with your Relationship Manager to set this up.
