November 2026 release

On Nov. 16, 2026, the Fedwire® Funds Service intends to implement the changes detailed below to ensure interoperability with modifications that Swift® and CHIPS® (peer operator) will make. Please review each change and required actions to ensure your institution knows how to avoid business disruptions.

Description of change Action required

Replacement of current unstructured postal address format (three lines of 35 characters each) with a hybrid postal address format for all persons/entities and financial institutions. The hybrid postal address format requires at least the town name and country.

(Additional information may be provided in other structured address elements and/or two free-formatted text lines of 70 characters each.)

  • Conduct impact analysis of all internal and external systems related to postal address format change (e.g., collect town name and country information).
  • Engage with internal software developers and/or software vendors (e.g., core systems, compliance systems, fraud detection) to make necessary changes.
  • Implement and test changes.
  • Confirm with your legal and compliance teams whether additional postal address requirements (beyond minimum of town name and country) should be provided.
Introduction of a pattern representing the character set at the XSD schema level for text elements (the permissible set of special characters are not changing).
  • Review for awareness.
Enhancements to the investigation messages (camt.110/camt.111) to enable better structuring of frequently used investigation use cases.
  • Determine impact on your investigation processes.
  • Implement changes to support enhanced investigation message format.
Enhancements to the FedPayments® Manager – Funds application (e.g., Create Payment Return feature for past messages, response feature for incoming return requests, drawdown requests, and investigation requests).
  • Review the scope document available in the “Help” link within the FedPayments Manager – Funds application (under General in the left navigation).
  • Train your team and test the new features.
